Colourful Carpets For Return To Lancashire
Having moved out of Lancashire with his family in 1998 Anthony Driver moved back “home’ to Lytham three years ago after spending the past 21 years in Kent.
With one eye on retirement, coming back to Lancashire and being so close to the stunning Lake District felt just right.
Not afraid of being bold and quirky, and in complete contrast to his position as a senior manager for Dignity Funerals, Anthony loves colour and vibrancy. His late wife had been a textile designer who had a real passion for colour and over the years that had rubbed off on Anthony and he was keen to make his new home in Lytham warm and welcoming.
Initially, Anthony was looking to refurbish the landing and bedrooms in his new home. Not one to be rash in his decision making he researched numerous products and spotted some spectacular new carpets being promoted by Gainsborough Flooring from award winning manufacturers Alternative Flooring in a luxury lifestyle magazine.
Having received the most comprehensive customer service training possible from Marks & Spencer when he was part of their management team in Belfast, Anthony expects the highest of standards from those he deals with.
He was not let down by Gainsborough Flooring.
Anthony commented. “I loved the honesty, integrity and flexibility of the team. When Eddy Brown initially came to see me, he took the time to understand exactly what I was looking to achieve and wasn’t afraid to challenge my ideas on the practicalities of what would work.”
“The team were so accommodating and professional, however, what I was most impressed with were the fitters who were meticulous with the installation. It was critical that they lined up the heart shaped pattern from the hallway carpet with the polka dots from the bedroom one, otherwise it would have looked an absolute mess! I have huge admiration for their patience and attention to detail and think they enjoyed the challenge too!”
For the hallway Anthony selected Alternative Flooring’s Quirky B Margo Selby Fair Isle Carpet range with its geometric shapes and handwoven structures, and for the bedroom he opted for the Quirky B Spotty Grey where the iconic polka dots add vitality and fun to the room.
Anthony chose to refurbish his lounge next and this time chose Margo Selby Ribbon Magenta which worked incredibly well with the extraordinary furnishings in the room.
Anthony’s always been regarded as a bit of a maverick by family and friends. So, what do they make of his rather remarkable home?
“They absolutely love it”, says Anthony. “The kids and grandchildren come and visit from Kent and just love the place. I’m not too precious about my home and I want them to feel as comfortable as I do when they’re here. I know the flooring is of such quality that it is protected and any spillages can be cleaned.”
Anthony concluded, “There’s nothing more delightful than coming home from a long day at work to my welcoming, cheerful and vibrant home which I totally adore.”
