Gainsborough Flooring create WOW factor with amazing Karndean Kaleidoscope

Gordon and Liz Warnock recently completed major renovations to the home they’ve lived in for nearly 25 years.

With a sizeable kitchen extension, a striking new summer room, opening up the entrance hallway to their home, plus a new staircase, there was considerable scope for some truly exciting flooring choices.

With the significant investment in their home they wanted to ensure every element was of the highest standard. That it didn’t just look spectacular but was also superb quality, long lasting, and the styles and colours complemented the décor in the house.

Following some online research and discovering a feature on Gainsborough Flooring in a local glossy lifestyle magazine, they called into their showroom.

Both Gordon and Liz were astounded with what they were presented with. A vast product range, invaluable advice demonstrating the teams, knowledge and expertise to guide them to select the most appropriate flooring for the space, as well as their ability to understand and collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure smooth and efficient installation.

With a range of samples delivered to their home they could actually experience how different colours, hues, tones and styles looked in both natural and artificial light in situ. Following many discussion they actually opted for numerous selections they hadn’t originally anticipated!

The back of the house was extended to create a magnificent sociable space in their spacious open plan kitchen and dining area. The couple selected Amtico Spacia Washed Salvaged Timber in the new planked arrangement, with its beautiful twists of warm and cool tones emphasising the reclaimed, aged feel, especially as the prominent grain in the design picks up the natural light to highlight the tones of the new kitchen units and surface.

The couple were extremely keen to create a distinctive feature by expanding their entrance hallway, making it a fantastically welcoming area with an incredible wow factor. The natural light and impressive space made Karndean Kaleidoscope KAL13 the perfect choice to create the amazing wow factor they were looking to achieve.

Karndean Kaleidoscope explores a new world of unique patterns and shapes using them to create bespoke and spectacular three dimensional pattern. Initially the 3D effect confused Gordon and Liz’s 5 year old grandson who thought he was stepping on an uneven floor!

During the nearly year-long renovation project numerous delivery men had watched the progress with interest and were totally blown away with the extraordinary hallway when making deliveries.

The newly renovated summer room created a wonderfully peaceful space which was fully utilised during the gorgeous summer and autumn months. As Gordon commented, ”It’s just so lovely and relaxing watching nature and chatting in this gorgeous space, rather than sitting in front of the television!” `To complement the walls and the natural light from the bifold doors, they selected Tromso White Maple, in a Herringbone laying pattern, creating a true feature of the flooring.  The White Maple with its light colourways, is absolutely ideal for such a space being easy to clean and maintain with a 0.55mm wear layer, and suitable for underfloor heating up to 27 degrees.

During the renovation, all the doors throughout the property were replaced as well as the whole staircase. For the stairs and landing Brockway Rare Breeds Loop, made from pure, undyed wool which doesn’t fade anywhere near as much or as quickly as man-made fibres, provided the luxurious look and feel desired whilst providing a durable surface.

Liaising with other contractors to ensure the installation was timely was critical to the smooth running of the project. Gordon was extremely impressed with the professionalism, flexibility and consideration shown by the Gainsborough team during the whole process, fitting in with the family’s timescales rather than their own conveniences, as well as keeping them informed and involved in the whole process.

Gordon concluded, “It has completely changed the way we live and we are absolutely delighted with what we’ve achieved. The family spend much more time together in the welcoming comfortable spaces enjoying the beauty of it. The wow factor created by the hallway tops it off completely with friends and family unbelievably impressed with what we have created.”

So what’s next on the list? Another sitting room and all the bedrooms which will need to be updated in the near future. There’s nothing holding back the creativity of Gordon and Liz!
